Valdosta

Valdosta, Georgia, known as "The Azalea City", is the state's 10th largest city and is also the county seat for rapidly growing Lowndes County. Business is booming all throughout the region, and Valdosta is no exception. Sitting strategically near the crossroads of I-75 and I-10, it boasts a modern airport with daily flights to Atlanta along with a good proximity to seaports. Moody Air Force Base is located in Valdosta and is a major employer in the city, as is the South Georgia Medical Center. The 2,000 Census put Valdosta's population at almost 44,000, but the current projected population is approximately 53,000. Valdosta has also been drawing in a large population of retirees, coming to enjoy the mild winter and temperate climate. All in all, the city's diversified buying public makes it a prime destination for a company seeking a place to grow and prosper in.

Valdosta residents have a variety of cultural entertainments and things to do. Wild Adventures is a well-known theme park featuring wild animals, wild rides and wild shows. The Grand Bay Wildlife Management Area is part of a large protected wetland, and visitors can walk on a 2,000-foot boardwalk stretching over the entire black gum swamp. Numerous parks and athletic fields line the city streets of Valdosta.

Theatre Guild Valdosta presents live performances at the Dosta Playhouse, deep in the heart of charming, historic Downtown Valdosta. Lowndes County Historical Museum is also here, preserving the area's rich past. A tree commission has been formed to carefully replant after construction, and a host of many other boards show Valdosta to be a community of very concerned and committed citizens. Residents are thrilled by the rapid growth, but unwilling to lose an inch of their natural and historic beauty.
