Establishing An Appropriate Workers' Compensation Plan And Maintaining Compliance

The Workers' Compensation Act requires all Georgia businesses with three or more employees to maintain workers' compensation insurance. This insurance provides employees injured on the job with medical care, disability benefits and rehabilitation, depending on the nature of the injuries. Employers have the option of whether to self-insure or provide this insurance for employees through a third-party insurer.

At Moore Clarke DuVall & Rodgers, P.C., our lawyers have a thorough understanding of workers' compensation law, and we have experienced business lawyers on our team. Using this unique combination of experience and skill, we provide employers with counsel regarding the establishment of their workers' compensation programs and ongoing compliance with workers' compensation laws.

Handling Workers' Compensation Claims

Handling a workers' compensation claim is just as important as establishing and maintaining a workers' compensation insurance system. The State Board of Workers' Compensation (SBWC) manages and regulates the program. Any employer that fails to maintain insurance, fails to comply with SBWC regulations or intentionally falsifies information is subject to civil penalties and fines, as well as being cited for a criminal misdemeanor.

At Moore Clarke DuVall & Rodgers, P.C., we represent self-insured employers and private insurance carriers in handling work injury claims. Our attorneys provide self-insured employers and private insurers with the counsel and representation they need to handle each employee injury claim efficiently and effectively, while protecting the employer's interests.
